Termon produced a storming second half to come from nine points down to grab a late win over Four Masters at the Burn Road.

Termon 2-14 Four Masters 3-9

Daire McDaid with a scintillating performance scored a staggering 2-8 for Trevor Alcorn’s young side who looked to have a real battle on their hands at half-time. Four Masters were in devastating form in the opening half and led 3-5 to 0-5 at half-time having been ten points up at one stage just before the halfway break.

Joe Leape polished off a sweeping Masters move in the opening minute to slam home the first of their three goals.
Killian Faulkner, who was proving a real handful for stand-in Termon fullback Brian McGettigan, struck for goal number two on the quarter four mark.
And Alex McCalmont completed the goal blitz five minutes later to propel the wind assisted men from the south of the gap into a 3-3 to 0-3 lead, by the 21-minute mark.

Termon had been worryingly carved open at the back and was hanging on when Senan Carr and McCalmont extended the Masters lead to 10, before Bobby McGettigan reduced the margin to nine on the stroke of half-time. Four Masters led 3-5 to 0-5 at the break.

With the strong wind a factor of Termon was transformed on the resumption. And with Bobby McGettigan driving at the Masters' defence Termon quickly went about hauling themselves back into the game.

And with man of the match McDaid landing three quick points in the opening five minutes of the second period, Termon had the bit between their teeth.

McGettigan carried from deep before setting up McDaid, for the first of the two Termon, three pointers quickly followed by a 40 metre free off the ground from McDaid, the gap was down to four by the 39 minute mark. Masters led 3-5 to 1-9.

Kevin Sinclair’s men halted the Termon march with points from Conor Reid, who had a big game in the middle of the park for the Masters and David Quinn.

The margin was out to five again, 3-7 to 1-9 with under nine minutes of normal time remaining. But a second McDaid goal on 53 minutes levelled the tie for one and only time and Termon through McDaid led the game for the first time three minutes shy of 60 minutes. And further late white flags from McDaid and Ryan McFadden sealed the win for the locals.

Four Masters had a number of chances in injury in the eight minutes of injury time but started to go for goals when opportunity for points were on.
