Termon's priority is the Intermediate championship

Trevor Alcorn says the IFC is his side's main ambition this term but ace forward Daire McDaid also wants to help fire the club back to Division 1 in the All-County League

Termon welcome Letterkenny Gaels to the Burn Road on Sunday.

Termon boss Trevor Alcorn said after his side’s opening round win over Gaeil Fhanada that winning the intermediate championship was his priority.

Ace forward Daire McDaid agrees but also argues if the team are to progress and reach their potential they also need to play in the top level league football as well.

“The priority is to win the intermediate championship and we know that does not come easy. If we are to progress as a team we need to be playing in the senior championship and in Division One in the league.”

Last weekend McDaid, along with Bobby McGettigan, led the second half charge as Termon came from nine points to overcome Four Masters, at the Burn Road.

Free scoring corner forward McDaid scored 2-8, in the 2-14 to 3-9 win with the bulk of the scores including the two goals scored in the second half as Termon came from nine points down at half-time.

“It was literally a game of two halves,” he said. “There was a stiff breeze blowing down the field and we were nine points down at half-time. We still had the belief that we could pull it back in the second half.

“Trevor told us at half time to just go at them and take them on. And we did that and we got the scores to see us over the line.”

Termon stormed into the game in the second half and right through the park they played with greater intensity and put Four Masters under pressure from the off on the resumption.

Bobby McGettigan led the charge from centre half forward and McDaid did the business in the front line of the attack.

“We said there in the huddle at the end that the quality of ball in was great and that is all you want as an inside man was plenty of ball. I would be happy to score 2-8 everyday we go out. But that is not going to happen. The wind was definitely a factor. We struggled against it in the first half and they struggled against it in the second.”

On Sunday, Termon will look to make it threw from three when they host Letterkenny Gaels at the Burn Road.
