Action from this evening's clash between Glenfin and Naomh Conaill.
Naomh Conaill eased to a third league win on the bounce with their second-half surge at Pairc Taobhoige eventually leaving eight points between them and hosts Glenfin.
Glenfin 2-3 Naomh Conaill 2-11
Glenfin - with the breeze in their backs inside the opening period - led 1-3 to 1-1 bang on 20 minutes. However, by the changeover Martin Regan’s men had wrestled matters back their direction at 1-4 to 1-3.
The second stanza was more or less all one-way traffic with Glenfin’s only other dent on the scoreboard a 44th minute three-pointer. Naomh Conaill would accumulate another 1-7 in what eventually proved to be a competent and relatively hassle free evening’s work.
After both side’s had traded opening overs through Brendan McDyer and Sean Ward, Gerard Ward bundled home the game’s opening goal after Odhran O’Connor had initially been denied by Stephen McGrath.
Donal Marley then pushed Glenfin three clear, passing the quarter hour mark. However, with Leo Dunphy clumsily sandwiched inside the area by both John Harkin and Mark McGinty Jnr, John O’Malley rolled home from the spot to leave the visitors one off the pace at 1-2 to 1-1.
Ward then floated over a brilliant placed ball from distance but with the Glenties men closing out the half with efforts from O’Malley, Seamus Corcoran and McDyer (free), the momentum was now firmly behind the Boys in Blue.
Charlie McGuinness (free), McDyer, Corcoran and substitute Daniel Gildea all posted inside the third quarter as Naomh Conaill eased themselves 1-8 to 1-3 clear. A Mark McGinty Jnr goal did manage to slingshot the home side back in to within two.
However, Naomh Conaill turned the screw once again down the stretch as O’Malley converted another spot kick while Ethan O’Donnell, O’Malley and McGuinness (free) closed matters out in comfortable fashion for the Davy Brennan Park outfit.
