Glenswilly clocked up their second league win from two in the All-County Football League Division 2 with a comfortable victory over Gaeil Fhánada, in Pairc Naomh Columba.

Glenswilly 2-13 Gaeil Fhánada 1-8

Mark Bonner and Mark McAteer scored the goals for the locals who had three of last year’s minors in the team and another two were introduced in the course of the second half.

Goalscorer Bonner, Daithi Gildea -who posted a point and made the second goal - and Donal Gallagher were given the start by manager Padraig Bonner. Daire Enright and Jamie McCauley then came on as substitutes.

With Cormac Callaghan, Kealan Dunleavy and Caoimhin Marley starting on the front foot, Glenswilly got off to a flying start and they had 0-4 to Gael Fhánada’s 0-1 on the scoreboard inside the opening 12 minutes. And the home team were 0-8 to 0-1 in front at half-time.

Dunleavy, who turned in a man of the match performance in the middle of the field, posted three of the points Mark McAteer, Gary McFadden, Daithi Gildea and Christopher McMonagle also got on the scoresheet.
Michael Sweeney was Gael Fhánada’s sole marksman at that stage.

Marley and Liam McGranaghan traded early frees on the resumption before Bonner got on the end of a good move to take the final pass from Gildea to slip the ball past Mark McConigley for the opening goal. That was on 37 minutes and opened up a 10-point, 1-9 to 0-2, lead for the locals.

Gary McFadden, from a close in free, and Eoin Logue exchanged white flags before Marley edged Glenswilly further ahead.
Gaeil Fhánada - to their credit despite being short a number of regulars due to injury - refused to give up the ghost. And thanks to points from Sweeney, who moved out around, the hard-working Paddy Carr and the accurate free taking of McGrenaghan they went toe-to-toe with Glenswilly in the closing ten or so minutes.

Mark McAteer and Jimmy Coyle added late goals for their respective sides as Glenswilly cruised to victory in only their second outing of the league. It was a second defeat for Gael Fhánada from their three outings.
