MacNiallais and McHugh play as goalkeepers as Gaoth Dobhair defeat Kilcar

While Gaoth Dobhair lost to Downings last weekend and Kilcar got the better of Naomh Conaill, on Saturday in Magheragallon it was the hosts who managed to come out on top, with Odhran MacNiallais and Mark McHugh in goal for either side

Gaoth Dobhair bounced back from last weekend's defeat to Downings with a big win over Kilcar at Magheragallon on Saturday evening.

Nine points separated the sides at the finish with the outcome never in doubt from very early against a weakened Towney outfit.

Pauric Carr, Ryan O’Donnell, Brian O’Donnell, Eoin Cormack and Ryan Jones were missing from the Kilcar line-up that recorded a narrow one point win over Naomh Conaill last weekend.

Gaoth Dobhair, who played with Odhran MacNiallais in goals while Kilcar had Mark McHugh between the sticks, led 0-6 to 0-3 in an evenly contested first half. But a Cian Mulligan goal in the early minutes of the second half set the locals on their way to another two league points.

Mulligan who was black carded late on top scored for Gaoth Dobhair with 1-4. Kilcar, the reigning league champions only scored twice in the second half courtesy of two Stephen McBrearty frees.
