Donegal’s possible opponents in next week’s All-Ireland preliminary finals are now known following an unpredictable last series of fixtures in the round-robin last 16 stage.

Aidan O’Rourke’s side produced a fantastic 0-19 to 0-17 win over Monaghan at Healy Park on Saturday to secure a second-placed finish in Group 4 behind a Derry side who secured top spot with a 1-20 to 1-13 win over Clare.

Donegal will have home advantage this coming weekend against either Mayo, Tyrone or Roscommon.

Today’s action saw Kerry hammer Louth in Group 1 on a 5-24 to 0-11 scoreline to finish in first with Cork upsetting Mayo 1-14 to 1-11 at the Gaelic Grounds. That means Cork finish in second in the group, ahead of Mayo.

In Group 2, Armagh finished first, courtesy of a 0-16 to 1-12 victory at Carrick-on-Shannon, with the Tribesmen finishing second and Tyrone, who drew 0-18 to 0-18 with Westmeath, in third.

Earlier in Group 3, Dublin cruised into the last eight with a 3-22 to 0-7 hammering of Sligo, with Kildare pipping Roscommon into second spot with a 1-16 to 1-15 win.

It means the four group winners go straight into the All-Ireland quarter-finals - Kerry, Armagh, Dublin and Derry. The second-placed sides - Cork, Galway, Kildare and Donegal - are home in the preliminary quarter-finals against the teams who came third - Mayo, Tyrone, Roscommon and Monaghan. Repeat pairings from the last 16 stage are not permitted and the draw takes place on Monday morning on RTE Radio at 8:30pm.
