Gerard Gilmore was hitting the high notes for Setanta against Dungloe

Setanta may have been minus Danny Cullen, Declan Coulter, Michael Donaghue, Niall Cleary, Oisin Marley, Stephen McBride and Bernard Lafferty, but still had too much power for Dungloe side at The Cross.

The winners led by 3-10 to 0-1 at half-time, as Dungloe improved slightly after the break- as Setanta tagged on 2-6. Dungloe actually opened the scoring per Fintan O’Toole but top scorer Gerard Gilmore, who has taken over the free-taking duties of the injured Declan Coulter, replied with two points from play for Setanta.

Kevin Campbell (free) and Conor McGettigan were also on target for the winners. McGettigan added another point before Campbelll hit the first goal for the home side in the 15th minute.

Gilmore continued to land the points as Josh McGee Cronolly got a goal to put Setanta into a 2-6 to 0-1 lead by the 19th minute. It was all Setanta up to the break with Gilmore landing a 65 and followed this up with his side’s third goal and a brace of points as Setanta led by 3-10 to 0-1 at the break.

The visitors put on a bit of a spurt on the restart with brothers James Hartnett and Thomas Hartnett getting points. Thomas added another free before the returned Ryan Coyle responded for Setanta. Thomas Hartnett had a point from play for Dungloe as Josh McGee/Cronolly replied for Setanta.

Setanta had another goal from Gilmore as Thomas Hartnett replied with a pointed free.
Gilmore was dictating the scoring stakes as he landed another free as Thomas Hartnett finished his side’s scoring ten minutes from time.

The relentless Gilmore landed another free and Colm Melaugh got Setanta’s final goal and sub, Travis Lafferty hit the final point for Setanta.
