Sean MacCumhaills booked a place in the Intermediate Hurling Championship final as Gavin Browne’s hat-trick fired the Twin Towns men past Aodh Ruadh at Crossroads.

Browne ended with 3-3 to his name as MacCumhaills advanced to a final meeting with Carndonagh.

MacCumhaills came out of the traps at blistering pace and had 2-5 on the scoreboard before Aodh Ruadh registered a score.

Browne orchestrated the game from midfield and within the opening two minutes had two points on the board.

Dual ace Joel Bradley-Walsh pitched in with a score on five minutes with Lee Henderson following up shortly after from a free.

MacCumhaills’ first goal came from a slick piece of play. Full-back John Anthony Chambers salvaged a loose ball expertly and played a teasing ball across to Ger Cunningham who picked out the oncoming Browne and he lashed the sliotar to the net.

In incessant rainfall, Browne blasted in a second goal as rampant MacCumhaills kept their feet on the gas.

Gareth Sheerin opened the Aodh Ruadh account, but it was their sole score of the first half.

Lee Henderson’s trio of points and a score from Cunningham stretched the MacCumhaills tally and they led 3-10 to 0-1 at half-time, with an Aodh Ruadh own goal compounding their woe.

The second half followed the same script as the first with MacCumhaills unrelenting, rifling off five points from Dean Hannigan, Bradley-Walsh (2), Henderson (free) and Anthony Patton on the mark.

Browne completed his hat trick to widen the margin further with late Bradley-Walsh and Henderson points concluding a one-sided affair.
