In a contest that saw five goals in Foden, it was Moville who went home with the points when they beat Carndonagh in an Inishowen derby

Moville off to a dream start in Junior A Championship with win over Carndonagh

Moville got their championship campaign off to a dream start with an away win over neighbours Carndonagh in Pairc UÍ Dochartaigh, on Sunday afternoon. 

Carndonagh 2-8 Moville  3-8 

The Sky Blues had three points to spare at the end of an absorbing and closely fought contest that produced five goals. Full-forward Danny Murphy scored two of Moville’s goals while Michael Barr posted the others.  

Donal Doherty was the goal star for Carndonagh. He found the back of the Moville net twice with two well-taken goals. 

Both teams were short a number of key personnel with Carndonagh forced to line out without Conor O’Donnell, who is currently sidelined due to injury and it may be a number of weeks before he is back. 

Moville were minus the Malachy McDermott and Christy Hegarty.   The Carndonagh team contained six of the club’s hurling team that won the Donegal Intermediate Cup eight days previously.

Carndonagh scorers: Donal Doherty 2-1; Anthony Doherty 0-3; Cian Doherty 0-2; Conor Browne, Fergal Doherty 0-1 each. 
Moville scorers: Danny Murphy 2-1; Michael Barr 1-2, Jamie McCormack 0-3, Michael Leech, Sean Doherty 0-1 each.
