Niamh McLaughlin.

Niamh McLaughlin played her part in the Gold Coast Suns’ record-breaking 73-point win over West Coast this morning in a fine 99-26 victory.

After an opening round loss to Carlton Blues in Round 1 last weekend, the Moville’s girl’s AFLW odyssey is certainly now up and running.

Elsewhere, Robert Emmets’ Tanya Kennedy and her Sydney Swans teammates suffered a 27-point loss to Geelong Cats. The Swans kicked off their AFLW campaign with their first-ever win when they beat city rivals Greater Western Sydney last weekend, but they were cut down to size by the Cats on Saturday, losing 10.8 (68) to 5.11 (41) at North Sydney Oval.

Finally, Donegal’s other Aussie Rules recruit, Yvonne Bonner, was part of the Adelaide Crows team that made it two wins from two on Friday night in a dominant 49-12 victory over Richmond.

The Glenfin girl kicked two goals last time out and while she didn’t get on the scoresheet this weekend, boss Matthew Clarke still signaled her out for praise.

“Yvonne has been pretty impressive since she arrived,” Clarke said. “Her work rate up and down the ground is phenomenal. She's making us better and we’re very happy.”
