The Irish News held their annual awards night at the Ulster Hall in Belfast and it was a huge evening for six Donegal girls as the Ulster champions collected a half dozen of the 15 awards on offer

Six Irish News All-Star gongs for LGFA Ulster champions Donegal 

Donegal celebrate their Ulster final win over Armagh back in May.

Ulster LGFA champions Donegal were well represented on Friday night at The Irish News All-Star awards in Belfast picking up six of the 15 spots available. 

In the full-back line there were places for both Niamh Carr and Abigail Temple Asokuh while Amy Boyle Carr was selected in the half-back line. 

2022 Footballer of the Year Niamh McLaughlin was named at midfield while Katie Dowds slotted in at wing half-forward. Donegal fell out of Division 1 this term but picked up the pace once again in spectacular fashion to claim the Ulster title with a shock victory over the reigning champions Armagh. 

However, they fell at the All-Ireland quarter-final hurdle to a much stronger Dublin in Ballybofey. Maxi Curran subsequently stepped down from his role as boss after six years at the helm.
