Glenfin edge out Kilcar in opening round of U-21 Championship in Towney

A missed penalty for Kilcar followed by a Glenfin goal were the big turning point in this tie in Towney on Saturday morning.

Kilcar 1-9 Glenfin 1-10

With the sides level at Kilcar 1-6, Glenfin 0-9 in the 49th minute, Glenfin 'keeper Kevin Gallagher made a great save from a Kilcar penalty.


Three minutes later Glenfin substitute Tommy McNulty hit the back of the Kilcar net and the visitors held on for a narrow victory.


The sides were locked at 0-5 each at half-time. County player Luke McGlynn was the scoring star for the winners, hitting eight points.


Kilcar scorers: Conor O'Donnell 0-4; Ryan McShane 1-1; Ciaran Love 0-2; Pauric Love, Ben Herrity 0-1 each.


Glenfin scorers: Luke McGlynn 0-8,2f; Tommy McNulty 1-0; Shaun Ward, Gavin McCormick 0-1 each.
