Donegal supporters have been waiting on the appointment of a new manager since Maxi Curran's six-year term ended in July
Donegal LGFA will put John McNulty forward for ratification as the new manager of the senior panel.
They have been on the lookout for a replacement for Maxi Curran, who stepped aside in July following Donegal’s loss to Dublin in the TG4 All-Ireland Senior Championship quarter-final in Ballybofey.
Curran was in charge for six years in all, winning Ulster titles in 2018, 2019 and this year, when his side toppled favourites Armagh at Owenbeg.
McNulty, a native of Kilcar, managed Aodh Ruadh to the Donegal SFC quarter-finals in each of the last two seasons, having succeeded Barry Ward in the hotseat in Ballyshannon. Previously, he managed his local Kilcar to All-County Football League Divison 1 success. He also took Donegal to an All-Ireland Masters Shield title and in 2017, was in charge as St Naul's won their first ever All-Ireland Comortas Peile na Gaeltachta.
Donegal will operate in Division 2 of the LGFA Lidl Ladies National Football League next season following their relegation earlier this year.
The LGFA interview panel are understood to have forwarded the name of McNulty for the position of senior manager ahead of a Friday night zoom meeting, where they will also confirm the identity of the new Donegal U-16 manager.
