Donegal Co Treasurer Alan Boyld, who will be presenting his final report as treasurer
The treasurer's report to the Donegal GAA Convention to be held on Wednesday night next in Jackson's Hotel underlines the huge amounts of monies involved at intercounty level.
The Donegal treasurer's report will reveal to delegates that income for the year was €2,267,459, up from €2,013,054 in 2002 but expenditure was also up from €2,128,993 in 2022 to €2,407,554 for the year ended in September 2023.
The main sources of income were gate receipts (€248,771); National League shares (€123,817); Commercial Income (€722,129); Other Income (€537,035); Income from Associated Bodies (€370,201) and Government Grants (€228,054).
The Commercial Income includes three main items - €323,771 in sponsorship; €205,000 in Central Council Grants and €157,453 in Royalties.
Fund-raising amounted to €37,452 in 2023 while under the heading of Other Income, Club Levies (€221,000) and Summer Camp Income (€165,350) are the big items.
In the Transfer Income column the big ticket item was €203,226 in Coaching and Games Development Grants.
On the other side of the coin - expenditure, the column under Teams Administration Expenses exceeded €1m - being €1,168,496, showing a big increase from €915,651 in 2022.
Coaching and Games Development accounted for €516,369 while Upkeep and Maintenance of Grounds was €170,925.
Administration Expenses amounted to €198,332 and Match Expenses cost €98,022 while a sum of €207,143 is included under a column, Other Expenses.
In the Team Administration Expenses the biggest increases are in Players Travelling Expenses €315,374 (€230,818 in 2022); Catering €237,149 (€162,360); Teams Administration €192,209 (€149,236); Medical Expenses €165,843 (134,874).
The report, which is Alan Boyd's final report in his role as treasurer as he has finished his five-year period, reveals that Coiste Chontae Dhún na nGall agreed a sale of the dressing rooms at Drumboe for €45,000, which occurred after the end of the reporting period.
