In Pictures: Donegal's seven promotions to Division 1 over last 36 years

On Saturday last in Netwatch Cullen Park, Carlow, Donegal won promotion to Division 1 for the 7th time - the first coming under the guidance of Tom Conaghan in the 1987/88 season.

2006

After going down in 2005, Donegal were back up to Division 1 in 2006 when they defeated Westmeath in a league semi-final. They went on to lose the Division 2 final to Louth after a replay with both sides promoted. After drawing their opening game against Leitrim, they defeated Carlow, London, Clare, Limerick, Longford and Roscommon.

The team which lost league final replay (1-12 to 1-9) was: Paul Durcan; Raymond Sweeney, Paddy Campbell, Karl Lacey; Damien Diver,  Barry Monaghan (0-1), Barry Dunnion (0-1); Brendan Boyle,  Neil Gallagher; Christy Toye (0-1), Ciaran Bonner,  Rory Kavanagh; Adrian Sweeney (0-3,2f), James Gallagher, Michael Doherty (1-3,pen,2f). Subs: Stephen McDermott for B Boyle; Michael Hegarty for J Gallagher; Frank McGlynn for Monaghan; Conall Dunne for Bonner.
