Dungloe had to come from behind to record an eight-point Division 2 win over Cloughaneely in St Finnian’s Park on Saturday evening.
Oisin Bonner and Darren Curran scored the goals for the winners while Bonner also posted five points - four of them from frees - while Dylan Sweeney, Ryan Connors, Shaun McGee and Matthew Ward also chipped in with points for the men from the Rosses.
John Fitzgerald top-scored for the locals who led by a point at half-time but were outscored 1 -9 to 0-3 in the second half.
Fitzgerald had opened the scoring for Cloughaneely with a fourth-minute mark. But Dungloe hit the next three scores with Bonner netting an eighth-minute goal to open up a 1-2 to 0-1 lead.
Darren McKeever responded with a quick point which seemed to settle the locals and Fitzgerald, proving a good target man for Cloughaneely, two frees from Sean Curran and Blake McGavey all managed to cut the Dungloe lead to one, at 1-2 to 0-4, with six minutes left in the half.
Matthew Ward, who was playing well in the middle of the field, then kicked Dungloe’s first point in 25 minutes to restore his side’s two-point advantage.
A Fitzgerald goal after the full-forward played a one-two with McGarvey, then sent the locals in one up, 1-4 to 1-3, at the half-time break.
But Dungloe upped their game in the second period a Curran got on the end of a good move for his side’s second goal, ten minutes into the new half.
Curran’s goal opened up a three-point lead and with Ryan Connors, Bonner, Sweeney and all hit the target as Dessie Gallagher's team outscored the locals by six points to two to run out convincing winners.
