Three Donegal players earn Ulster All-Star awards for superb season at school level

Abbey Vocational School players Seanán Carr and Kevin Muldoon

Seanán Carr and Kevin Muldoon from the Abbey Vocational School, along with Finbarr Roarty from St Columba’s Comprehensive, Glenties, have received recognition for their performances at school level by being added to the Ulster Schools All-Star team for 2024.

Carr led Abbey Vocational School to victory in the MacLarnon Cup and the Paddy Drummond Cup, where, alongside his brother Turlough, they won the Man of the Match award for the former.

In doing so, Carr becomes only the third Donegal man to captain a school side to the All-Ireland Schools Senior B glory when they beat Ashbourne in Clones last month.

Muldoon's outstanding performance earned him the Man of the Match title in that All-Ireland final while he won Player of the Tournament for his outstanding display in the Ulster minor club championship last winter with Four Masters, where Carr is a player at senior level for the club.

Carr secured the Donegal Minor Championship in 2022, while Muldoon claimed it in 2023 along with the Ulster club title.

Both Carr and Muldoon become only the second and third players from the school to capture school All-Star awards, with current Donegal player Peadar Mogan being the first.

It’s two in-a-row for Roarty who has been named in the All-Star team for the second consecutive year. The Naomh Conaill clubman captained the Donegal minors in 2023 and now leads the U-20 side this season while having also togged out for Jim McGuinness’s Donegal senior side in the McKenna Cup back in January.
