Stephen Griffin
St Naul’s 2-10
Milford 0-7
St Naul’s were quick out of the blocks with points from Barry Burke and Stephen Griffin inside three minutes. And while Milford pulled a point back from a free, St Naul’s added the next four points from the 7th to the 25th minutes through Thomas White (2), an excellent effort from Joe Campbell and one from Stephen Griffin, all four from play.
Again Milford pulled a point back but in the final five minutes of the half player manager Stephen Griffin hit 1-2 to leave the home side in a comfortable position at half-time leading 1-8 to 0-2.
Griffin had the first point of the second half from a 38th minute free and while Milford again replied, another Griffin point and a second Naul’s goal from Thomas White on 46 minutes left the home side out of sight.
Milford did get the last four scores with substitute Cathal McGettigan getting on the scoresheet but they never looked like bridging the gap.
Joe Campbell had an excellent game in goals while Stephen Griffin, not for the first time, impressed with 1-6, while Thomas White also impressed in a team that was short seven of last year’s championship side.
