Kilcar 0-12
Sean MacCumhaill's 2-7
MacCumhaill’s had to hold on for the final 14 minutes and added time to secure a big win over Kilcar at a sunny Towney.
A goal in either half made the difference in the end with Kilcar short a number of regulars including Brian O’Donnell and Mark McHugh.
Eoin Cormack and Aaron Gilhooley shared the first two points before MacCumhaill’s struck for the first goal. A line ball from Joel Bradley Walsh was met by midfielder Andrew Murray to find the Kilcar net.
Keegan McCormack added two points, one from a mark with Ben Rafferty replying for the home side.
Another mark from full-forward Aaron Kelly and a point from Marty O’Reilly pushed MacCumhaill’s 1-5 to 0-2 ahead before Matthew McClean hit two points before half-time.
Marty O’Reilly and Mark Sweeney traded early second half points before MacCumhaill’s struck for a second goal from Keegan McCormack, who worked his way in along the endline to find the net from a very narrow angle.
Matthew McClean responded with a point which was cancelled by Marty O’Reilly on 46 minutes, but that would be the Twin Towns side's last score.
Kilcar rallied with points from Oran Doogan (3), Eoin McHugh (2) and Stephen McBrearty to get within one but MacCumhaill’s held on for the win.
