Ultán Ó Dónaill all smiles with Donegal goalkeeper Shaun Patton at Celtic Park on Sunday
Donegal goalkeeper Shaun Patton was true to a promise to a young supporter following Saturday's Ulster SFC quarter-final win in Derry.
Donegal ran out winners at Celtic Park on a 4-11 to 0-17 scoreline after afterwards Patton made sure to give a pair of goalkeeping gloves to nine-year-olf Ultán Ó Dónaill, who plays for Naomh Muire.
St Eunan's netminder Patton had made the promise to Ultán, a third-class student at Scoil Rann na Feirste, following Donegal's victory over Meath in the Allianz League last month.
"The support is everything and you are playing for the people of your county," Patton said. "These people are paying money to watch you play football and it's very important. That young fella was at a couple of games before and I needed the gloves so I made a deal with him and told him the 'next time I see you I will have a pair of gloves for you.' So he held me to my word and everything worked out alright."
Ultán is the son of Damien Ó Dónaill, who was commentating on the match for RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta and works out of their studio in Doirí Beaga.
