Naomh Brid 0-10
Naomh Brid made it three wins from four games when they visited Letterkenny Gaels on Saturday evening in the Yes Chef Catering Division 3 League.
The Trummon side are sitting in fourth place in the league standings but are only two points off the top spot which is being held by St. Mary’s, Convoy.
The visitors showed their intent from the throw-in and raised the white flag in the opening minute with a well-taken point from the lively Eoin Rush while Callum Gallagher chipped in soon after with one of his own. Paddy Doherty got the Glebe men on the scoreboard on the seventh minute with Shay Doherty converting a free in the 10th minute.
The visitors took control of the last quarter scoring four unanswered points with the scores coming from Eoin Quinn, Eoin Rush, with two, and one from midfielder Callum Gallagher. The Gaels lost their corner forward, Shay Doherty, to a red card on the stroke of half-time.
Both teams traded points during the opening quarter of the second period with scores coming from Callum Gallagher and Darren Russell for the visitors and Adam Duffy (free) and Paddy Doherty for the hosts.
The Gaels were awarded a penalty mid-way through the half when Ronan Frain was pulled down in the square but the penalty which Frain took himself was brilliantly saved by the Naomh Brid keeper Adam Burr.
While the Gaels did keep the pressure on in the closing minutes with scores coming from Liam McAlary, Brian Diver and a free from Ronan Frain, it was the visitors who held to take a one-point victory with late points coming from Darren Rush and Callum Gallagher.
