A Dublin minor hurler with Naomh Conaill connections will hope to win Leinster glory this weekend when he lines out at corner-back in the provincial final for the Boys in Blue.

Mark Byrne, the son of former Naomh Conaill player Derek Byrne, and a grandson of club stalwarts Gerry and Breid Byrne is joint vice-captain of the Dublin minor hurling team that will line out in the Leinster minor hurling final this Saturday against Kilkenny in O’Moore Park in Portlaoise.

He also has connections from Kilcar with his mother Sandra (nee Cannon) from the area.

The U-17 player is one of two Lucan Sarsfields players on the starting XV and was togged out in the corner-back position earlier this week when the Dublin minor team overcame Wexford in the Leinster semi-final.
