Saturday got off to a good start for Donegal GAA when the U-16 team travelled to Dublin and came home with a two point victory.

In an exciting match that was in the melting pot all through, Donegal triumphed by 4-11 to 3-12.

There was just a point between the sides at the break, Donegal leading 1-8 to 1-7, their goal from Shane Sweeney of Ardara.

In the second half Sweeney added another goal and further goals from Conor Farrell and substitute Conor Gallagher put Donegal five points clear with five minutes left.

But there was to be further drama as Dublin were awarded a penalty but Corey Sheridan made a great save. Dublin did get a late goal to cut the margin to two but Donegal held on.

It was a good result for the Donegal side, who had lost their opening game against Derry two weeks earlier.
