St Mary’s took another giant step on the road back to Division Two of the ACFL with a five point win over Naomh Ultan, in Dunkineely, on Saturday night in this Yes Chef Division 3 tie.

Second half goals from  Gavin Sweeney and Pauric Gordon paved the way for the win after coming from three points down in the early minutes of the second half. 

The teams had traded ends at half-time at 0-4 each but a John Bach goal for Naomh Ultan opened up a three point between the teams for the first time early in the second half.

A quick point from Anthony Browne and a Gavin Sweeney goal was the perfect response and edged St Mary’s back in front. 

Shortly after Browne added another point followed by a second goal tucked away by Pauric Gordon to set St Mary’s on their way to a straight eighth win.  

Naomh Ultan scorers: Cian Kennedy 0-6, Jonathan Bach 1-0, Patrick White 0-1.

St Mary’s scores: Pauric Gordon, Gavin Sweeney 1-1 each, Anthony Browne, John Toye 0-3  each, Liam Toye 0-2.
