Eoin McGeehin’s two first half goals set St Eunan’s on their way to comfortable All-County Football League Division 1 win over Glenfin.
The full-forward struck goals on eight and 20 minutes for Barry Meehan’s team, who were on control from the off in Letterkenny after drawing last weekend in Downings and losing to Gaorth Dobhair the week before.
Anthony Gallagher and Dylan Doogan hit the opening two scores before McGeehin goaled, having opened his body to slot past Kaine McGlynn in a move where Caolan Ward and Oran Winston played a part for a 1-2 to 0-0 lead.
St Eunan’s kept on the front foot and further points came from Pauric Byrne, substitute Darragh Mulgrew and Caolan Ward all joined McGeehin on the scoreboard by half-time.
Shaun Ward’s 45 opened Glenfin’s account, with Daniel Marley’s free and Ciaran Brady’s score moving up their interval total. St Eunan’s Conor O’Donnell hit two in the last minute of the half, so St Eunan’s were 2-8 to 0-3 ahead at the break.
Mulgrew and Boyle opened the second half St Eunan’s scoring, with Marlety and Odhran O’Connor on the mark for Glenfin, which meant it was 2-10 to 0-5 on 40 minutes. Kieran Tobin, the St Eunan’s captain, was black-carded on 44 minutes, and Glenfin were aggrieved when O’Connor got away only to be called back by referee Jimmy White, who called the free.
John Harkin of Glenfin was then black-carded, which added to an earlier black, so off he went with 12 to play, before Marley hit his third point. It was 2-11 to 0-7 on 50 minutes. Late scores from Marley - his fourth of the game - and Kealy and Eamonn Doherty for St Eunan’s.
