Donegal ladies team which contains five of the players who are listed for All-Star nominations
Five Donegal senior players have been nominated for the Irish News Ulster All-Star awards with Abigail Temple Asokuh, Amy Boyle Carr, Katie Dowds, Niamh McLaughlin and Suzanne White all listed as nominees.
While it has been a positive season for the county side in terms of progression with the team acknowledging that they are going through a period of transition under manager John McNulty, there has been moments of near misses too with Donegal falling to Armagh last May in the Ulster following their one-point defeat after extra-time.
That result was followed by a draw to Kerry in MacCumhaill Park and a loss to Waterford two weeks ago which saw Donegal dumped out of the All-Ireland championship and into a relegation semi-final game this weekend against Kildare.
Last year saw a record 30,000 votes cast for the four All-Star teams.
This year’s Irish News All-Stars awards will take place on September 27 in the ICC Belfast, after two highly-successful years in the Ulster Hall.
It will once again be compered by Neil Delamere and honour All-Star teams in men’s and ladies’ football, hurling and camogie as well as naming four Players of the Year in the respective codes.
Voting for this year’s All-Stars is now opened and continues until August 2.
