Aodh Ruadh’s Lisa McTernan to take over as Donegal GAA Administrator

Lisa McTernan, Aodh Ruadh . . . to succeed Noreen Doherty as Donegal GAA Administrator

The post of GAA Administrator in Donegal, which becomes vacant next month with Noreen Doherty stepping down, will be filled by Aodh Ruadh’s current chairperson, Lisa McTernan.

The Ballyshannon native, with a wealth of experience in GAA administration with her club and at Divisional Board level, will take up her new post in the middle of August. Noreen Doherty is stepping down towards the end of August.

The MacCumhaill’s clubperson has given much of her life to the GAA, being elected assistant secretary in the late 1980s and then being elected secretary in 1991 at a Convention in the Highlands Hotel, Glenties. Noreen served as secretary until 2005 before taking up the role as Central Council delegate and then taking on the full-time role as Donegal GAA Administrator.

Her replacement Lisa McTernan has given the best part of 20 years to the GAA at club and divisional level. She was eight years secretary of Bord na nOg in Aodh Ruadh and also eight years as senior secretary of the club before taking over as chairperson last year. She also spent some years as divisional board secretary.
