Mick Murphy used to be involved with the Buncrana Cup down the years as a coaching officer and games manager.
He believes the competition helps develop the under 16 squads in every county that takes part.
The reason this competition means so much is because it is in the memory of the youngsters who died in the Omagh bombing.
“One of the reasons we put such effort into this was this it also had other significance the fact that it was run here in memory of the youngsters that was killed in the Omagh bomb and we all all know what significance that is today because there is relatives of these youngsters hear from Buncrana and every GAA person loves to be involved in the running of this in there memory” said Mick.
The competition has grown in significance as Croke Park has now taken over the running of the tournament.
The competition has continued to go from strength to strength. Mick believes that the people running behind the scenes deserve a lot of credit for improving the competition.
“Well it’s been kept going from strength to strength because of the huge effort been put in by Donegal GAA first of all who would be the main unit behind the scenes and then we have our management teams that are under 16 level who put in a huge effort here training all these young guys from all over the county from Ballyshannon to Malin and huge effort is put in there every year and we get to finals here then we compete with an the other counties it’s absolute credit to all those people that's involved.”
