Tanya Kennedy was superb for the Sydney Swans as they earned a 50 to 35 opening AFLW win over Collingwood at North Sydney Oval.

The Robert Emmets girls was named at the heart of the Swans defence and in a niggly affair, the hosts earned a 15-point win. 

Sparks flew early on in this one with a number of scuffles marring the contest at certain stages.  

Matters were tied at 18 each at the break but the hosts were 43 to 19 clear going into the fourth and final quarter to eventually cross the line in comfortable fashion.
