Donegal native and Adelaide Crows player Amy Boyle Carr
Donegal and Glenties native Amy Boyle Carr will make her AFLW debut for the Adelaide Crows in their Round Four clash against Essendon this Sunday.
It’ll be a special day for the 23-year-old rookie signing who just moved to Australia as recently as August, having never played Aussie Rules before.
It has been a long season for the talented half-forward from Naomh Conaill with her Donegal team overcoming Kildare by one point in a relegation play-off back in June for the green and gold to remain in the senior championship for the 2025 season.
Having moved from playing football to GAA as a teenager, Carr is now looking to master Aussie Rules in the land ‘Down Under’, with Crows Head of Women’s Football Phil Harper saying it is a testament to Carr for how quickly she had learned the rules and gameplay.
“Amy has been in really good form in the scrimmages and she’s come a long way in a short period of time,” Harper said on the Adelaide Crows website.
“The coaches have been terrific for her; her teammates have helped her all the way too, but the bottom line is that most of the work has been done by her.
“She brings a lot of speed into our team and it’s a great story now. We feel confident we can pick her and she’ll add value to the team.”
