MacCumhaills set to host "Heads Up!" mental health awareness event on Friday night

Sean MacCumhaills is hosting a mental health awareness event called “Heads Up!” on September 27 in Jackson's Hotel at 8pm.

The evening will have guest speakers in attendance such as will Dublin’s Shane Carthy, Armagh’s Oisin McConville, Tyrone’s Ronan McNamee, Donegal senior player Katy Herron, and U-20 mentor Kevin Mills.

MC for the night will be former Donegal player Brendan Devenney, while there will also be a representative from the Addiction Service and SCAN (Suicide Crisis Assessment Nurse).

Taking to social media to promote this event, the Sean MacCumhaills club said; “Over the last few years mental health issues have become more prevalent in our communities, and by hosting this awareness evening, we hope to shine a light on issues such as depression, gambling, and low self-esteem.

“This event is not just for players, coaches, parents, or volunteers, it’s aimed at everyone, from all ages, from all clubs, and from inside and outside the GAA.”

Money raised on the night will cover the cost of the evening, while anything over will go towards underage development in the club.
