Five Donegal men from L-R: Seanie Boyle (Kilcar); Jack Gillespie (Red Hughs); Paul Houston (MacCumhaill's); Dean Bonner (St Mary’s, Convoy) and Oisin McElhinney (Red Hughs).
A strong Donegal presence helped Roger Casements claim the Warwickshire Senior Championship on Sunday, with a hard-fought 1-6 to 0-6 victory over Sean McDermotts.
Jack Gillespie of Red Hughs was key for the Coventry-based team, scoring an impressive 1-2 in challenging conditions at Páirc na hÉireann, as they overcame their Birmingham rivals.
Kilcar’s Seanie Boyle captained the side, which led 0-3 to 0-2 at half-time, and they now look forward to competing in the All-Britain Championship for just the fifth time in the club’s 65-year history.
It was an emotional win for team selector Paul Houston, a Sean MacCumhaill’s native, who has been involved with the club as both player and coach for three decades.
The Donegal contingent included captain Seanie Boyle (Kilcar), Jack Gillespie and Oisin McElhinney (both Red Hughs), Paul Houston (MacCumhaill’s), and Dean Bonner (St Mary’s, Convoy).
