Mark McHugh and Davy Burke during the Donegal man's time with the Roscommon senior team
Former Donegal footballer Mark McHugh will join Dermot McCabe’s backroom team after the former Cavan footballer’s appointment as Westmeath manager on Tuesday night.
The Kilcar native and Donegal’s 2012 All-Ireland winner had been part of the Roscommon set-up under Davy Burke for the 2023 season and is currently coaching Galway senior finalists Moycullen who will play in the county decider against Corofin on Sunday week.
McCabe, who will take up his first role as an inter-county manager, will replace Dessie Dolan who stepped down in July after two years in charge.
Prior to working in Roscommon, McHugh has worked as a coach with the Fermanagh minors and the Donegal ladies team.
