Termon ladies marched into the Ulster LGFA SFC semi-finals with a thoroughly impressive nine-point home win over St Macartans on Sunday.

Storm Ashley accounted for this fixture last weekend and seven days on, conditions were still tricky enough at what was a saturated Burn Road.

Still - it became evident from pretty early on that Termon were a level or two above their Tyrone opposition.

And by the midpoint, this one already looked as good as over as Kevin and Adrian McGettigan’s team comfortably led 1-8 to 0-1.

And while Ryan McMenamin’s Macartans improved somewhat on the resumption, Termon still eased into the last four where they’ll now meet Lurgan of Cavan.

Less than a minute in and Emer Friel had Termon ahead and with Geraldine McLaughlin also registering soon after, Termon held an early two-point lead.

The Termon full-forward was at it again on five minutes as she extended the hosts’ lead.

Things got even better for the Donegal champions on ten minutes as Ciara McGarvey landed a fourth successive over for the home side.

It took Macartans until the beginning of the second quarter to make an impact on the scoreboard as Rhianne Monaghan broke through the middle.

Still, seven minutes out from the midpoint Termon regained their four-point advantage as McLaughlin lobbed over a free from distance. A brilliant ball in from Roisin Friel then allowed McLaughlin to make it 0-6 to 0-1.

And on 25 minutes, brilliant build-up play from Friel and McLaughlin culminated in Evelyn McGinley ghosting forward from centre half-back to rattle the net.

Headed into added time at the end of a dominant first period from Termon McLaughlin added another - again from a free from the hands - to leave it 1-7 to 0-1.

And just before the short whistle, McLaughlin took her tally to six for the first half hour with another routine free.

Termon were a little slower to get going in the second stanza but it was still the hosts that raised the first flag there thanks to a fine Jodi McFadden effort where the angle looked against her.

Macartans doubled their tally for the afternoon moments later as Shauna McGirr landed a free with the scoreboard now reading 1-9 to 0-2.

The same player repeated that feat moments later as Termon went down to 14 as Megan Ryan went into the sinbin.

McGirr added another brace of frees as Termon coughed up a number of cheap opportunities close to goal to leave it 1-9 to 0-5 with ten to go.

But before the end, McLaughlin would add the final two points of the contest as Macartans’ Grainne McKenna was also yellow carded to compound what was a miserable afternoon for the Red Hand outfit.
