Geraldine McLaughlin bursts through the Macartans defence on Sunday
Geraldine McLaughlin says Termon were more than happy with the manner in which they eased past Tyrone’s St Macartans in the Ulster LGFA SFC quarter-final.
In the end, a dominant showing from the hosts helped seal a 1-11 to 0-5 victory on the Burn Road for Adrian and Kevin McGettigan’s side.
“We’re delighted to get the win and the way the girls went about it was brilliant,” said McLaughlin, who notched eight points over the hour.
“Our defence was outstanding and the way they were able to cut off the avenues and the space was just so impressive.
“We got numbers around the ball every single time and it was that workrate that really stood out.”
Termon now meet Lurgan of Cavan, away from home, in the last four and with that game scheduled for next weekend, McLaughlin says her side will quickly regroup.
“We like it that way - week on week. That’s the way it was in the county championship and games are what you want. I think it suits us.
“Last weekend it was the right call to call it off. The weather was just at a point where it just didn’t allow for a game of football.
“It rained heavily today but at least the wind wasn’t a factor and you could move the ball around and get the scores.

“Away to Lurgan in Cavan, we will need to quickly look at that now. We love the Burn Road and we know how helpful that is. So we are going to have to knuckle down now this week.
“We will look to give the best account of ourselves because when we do that we know it’ll take a very good team to beat us”.
