Mary Ferry and her son Patrick with Ball Drop Committee members Eoin Byrne, Ben Mc Bride, Kevin Connor, MC for the day Brendan Devenney, Kevin Cookie Gallagher, Seimi Mc Bride and Tanya Roberts Browne
On Saturday, Downings GAA played host to their long-awaited Helicopter Drop with Patrick Ferry walking away the winner with €25,000.
The event, which had former Donegal footballer Brendan Devenney as MC, involved dropping five footballs from a helicopter worth 35 grand, with one of the balls landing in a square on the Downings’ pitch, with the owner of that square winning €25,000.
With 15 teams now from U-6 up to senior, Downings have two fantastic pitches and a training pitch but are limited for space in the winter as their training pitch is too small to accommodate all the teams.
Funds raised from Saturday’s event will be going towards floodlights so the youth team can play and train.
A total of 10 prizes were up for grabs with a total value of €35,000.
