Former Aodh Ruadh and Donegal minor player Sean Taylor is celebrating Connacht glory on Sunday evening after his side Coolera Strandhill reached the pinnacle of the club’s history by winning a Connacht Senior Club Championship title.
They defeated the strong favourites, Roscommon champions Padraig Pearses after extra-time in Markievicz Park, Sligo on Sunday.
And Donegal native Taylor played his part in the full-back line, getting forward to score a vital point in the final quarter of normal time.
The Sligo side went on to win by a single point after extra-time, 1-15 to 1-14.
Taylor, a qualified strength and conditioning coach, has his own business and has been involved with many different teams in different sports.
He was initially a goalkeeper and was the ‘keeper for the Donegal minor team. He was a member of the Sligo senior panel as a goalkeeper, but he has also been a very useful outfield player.
He normally plays in defence at full-back or centre-half-back and was part of the Aodh Ruadh team that won the Donegal Intermediate title in 2020, before then transferring to Coolera Strandhill.
It has been a great year for Sean and Coolera, winning the Sligo title after a replay and then overcoming Ballina Stephenites before the final victory over Padraig Pearses.
