Sinead McBride and Emer Trearty of Na Dúnaibh celebrate after their All-Ireland Junior Club Championship semi-final match against Kilcock
Downings' ladies are set to play Mungret St Paul's in the All-Ireland Junior final on Sunday, December 15 in Parnell Park.
Barney Curran's side have reached the national final after Sunday's 1-7 to 0-7 point victory over Kilcock.
Matters were deadlocked at the break at 1-3 to 0-6 but with Kilcock only registering once after the restart, Downings' extra guile and know-how was enough to see them through.
In the other semi-final, through remarkable precision in free-taking, Mungret St Paul’s secured a place in the All-Ireland Junior Ladies Football Championship Club Final, marking a historic achievement for the team.
Led by captain Áine Ryan, the Limerick and Munster representatives triumphed in a dramatic penalty shoot-out against Coolera Strandhill of Sligo on Saturday. The teams were inseparable after extra-time, but the calm composure of Gráinne McKenna, Carol Bateman, and Fiona Morrissey during the shoot-out clinched the victory for John Horgan’s side.
McKenna was particularly outstanding, contributing an impressive 0-6 during regular play, underscoring her pivotal role in the team's success. This victory propels Mungret St Paul’s into a national final set for Sunday week, where they will aim to crown their campaign with a championship win.
