Donegal GAA income and expenditure exceeds €3m in 2024

Some mouthwatering figures are included in the Donegal GAA Accounts for the year with Team Expenditure now edging close to €2m. There have been dramatic increases in both income and expenditure

The income and expenditure of Donegal GAA increased dramatically in 2024 according to the figures which will be put before Donegal GAA Convention in Pettigo on Wednesday of next week (December 11th).

In the figures published in the Convention booklet, income for 2024 was up substantially at  €3,139,591 as opposed to €2,267,459 in 2023, an increase of €873,132.

But at the same time, expenditure was also much higher at €3,037,735 as opposed to €2,407,554 the previous year. Overall, the accounts show that there was a surplus of €101,856 on the year's workings.

These are the two big takeaways from the financial report which will be presented by treasurer, Grace Boyle. The accounts were audited by Xeinadin Audit Ireland Limited, Charterered Accountants & Statutory Auditors, 74 Northumberland Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4.

The number for income is impressive and includes increases in almost all areas. For example Gate Receipts 394,925 (248,771 in 2023); Commercial Income 736,844 (507,584); Fundraising Income 527,447 (34,394); Income from Associated Bodies 860,964 (836,830); Other Income 576,355 (411,826); Government Grants 43,056 (228,054).

The only area of decrease in income was in Government Grants.

The major increase in expenditure was in County Team Administration - 1,861,737 from 1,262,495 last year, but that can be explained by the fact that both the football and hurling teams were in contention until late in the year.

On the balance sheets Debtors are shown as 401,170 - a decrease from 540,020 while Creditors are also down from 972,050 to 698,650.

On the breakdown of income there has been a big increase in gate receipts in the football championship - €316,925 (as opposed to €217,981 in 2023).

In the Commercial Income column sponsorship income is down to €209,400 (from €338,771) while Gear Sponsorship has a figure of €149,733 against nothing shown for 2023. Royalties are up to €239,641 (€157,453).

Fundraising showed a big figure of €527,447 made up of Supporters Club Income (118,548), Golf Classic (106,400) and Other Fundraising (302,499).

There is a full breakdown of the Team Administration with Player Mileage (363,503), Meals and Catering (273,792) and Sports Gear/Boots (229,936) being the biggest ticket items.

There is also a breakdown in the expenditure of each team - Senior Football, Senior Hurling and U-20/U-17/Development. The total for senior football is €1,081,807; senior hurling €352,900; U-20/U-17/Development €427,030.

One figure from the team administration expenses that is the figure of €72,198 for Analyst.

The report covers every aspect of the Association in Donegal for the year and will be presented to the delegates at the annual Convention.
