Abbey VS MacRory Cup team who topped their group
The play-off pairings in the Danske Bank MacRory Cup are now known and Abbey VS, Donegal Town and Donegal South West will be in action next week.
After topping their group, Abbey VS, Donegal town will have a home game against Cathair Dhoire while Donegal South West will travel to play St Pat’s, Cavan.
The check back on scores from referee reports that took place yesterday afternoon deemed that both St Joseph’s Donaghmore and Cathair Dhoire had finished in Group B each with a draw and three defeats – and exactly the same score difference. The next criterion, the higher scoring total, was then brought into play and Cathair Dhoire have made the cut to play Group D winners Abbey Vocational from Donegal town.
Top place in Group C had been sorted last Friday evening with St Patrick’s Maghera beating St Patrick’s Cavan. Maghera will be at home to Our Lady’s Castleblayney while Cavan host Southwest Donegal.
All the play-offs will take place towards the second half of next week.
Should Abbey and Donegal South West be successful, they know their who they will meet in the quarter-final. That would also be a home game for the Donegal Town school.
Abbey VS or Cathair Dhoire will play either St Colman’s, Newry or St Ronan’s, Lurgan.
Donegal South West/St Pat’s, Cavan will play either Omagh CBS or St Paul’s, Bessbrook.
