Aidan McAteer is back as Gaeil Fhanada manager for the first time since 2022
Gaeil Fhanada have appointed Aidan McAteer as their new manager for the senior football team for the 2025 season.
McAteer, who was manager of the U-14 Donegal ladies side that reached the All-Ireland final earlier this year only to lose out to Offaly in the final, returns to the Fanad club as manager where he previously spent six years in the position before stepping down after guiding his team to the Donegal IFC semi-final in 2022 where they were defeated by Naomh Columba.
Gerard Patrick Shiels took over as manager for one season in 2023 before Tyrone native Finbar O’Neill was appointed manager of the Portsalon-based club back in February.
The club finished 11th last season in Division 2 with four wins, seven losses, and two draws, as they finished just one point outside the relegation zone while also maintaining their IFC status for the 2025 season.
McAteer will hope the club can go one better next year as he begins the process of finding his backroom panel.
