The GAA’s decision to end free entry for children under 16 at top-tier Allianz League matches will have implications for fans across the country, including Donegal supporters, as their team prepares for Division 1 competition in 2025.
From now on, juvenile tickets will cost €5 for Division 1 and 2 football, as well as Division 1A and 1B hurling games, and must be purchased alongside an adult ticket. This marks a departure from the previous arrangement, which allowed U16s to attend most games free of charge, except for fixtures with reserved seating or limited capacity.
In a statement, the GAA explained the change: “After consultation with our counties and to assist with event control and health and safety protocols for fixtures that attract bigger attendances. It will not apply for Divisions 3 and 4 in football or Divisions 2 and 3 in hurling. A juvenile charge may also apply to other fixtures if required due to capacity.”
Adult ticket prices for Division 1 and 2 football and Division 1A and 1B hurling remain unchanged from last season, set at €20, with senior citizens and students paying €15. For lower-division football, tickets are €12 (€10 for OAPs and students), while hurling matches in Divisions 2, 3, and 4 are priced at €10 (€8 for concessions).
Fans can also take advantage of several promotions. Until the end of December, an early bird offer gives a €5 discount on adult tickets for the opening league round at the end of January. League bundles provide additional savings, with packages available for multiple matches: seven Division 1 or 2 football games are priced at €100, while four games cost €65. Similar deals are available for Division 3 and 4 football and Division 1A and 1B hurling.
