Paul Gallagher takes charge of Malin seniors for 2025 season

Former underage manager steps up to senior role as Malin boss taking over from Michael Byrne

Paul Gallagher takes charge of Malin seniors for 2025 season

Malin will be manged by Paul Gallagher next season

Paul Gallagher has been appointed manager of the Malin senior football team for the 2025 season taking over from Michael Byrne who stepped down from his role in late October.

Byrne left the position as manager after three seasons in charge of the Inishowen side, having guided them to Division 1 promotion in 2022, as well as bringing them to the Donegal Intermediate championship final in 2023, only to lose out to Downings.

Malin lost this year’s IFC semi-final to Naomh Columba following a 2-10 to 1-10 scoreline.

Gallagher comes into the position having been in charge of several Malin underage teams including the Malin U-21 team that reached the county B final in 2021, only to lose out to Milford in the decider.

Gallagher is yet to finalise his backroom team but has stated that Rob Porter and Neil Gilloway will take over as the reserve managers for the upcoming season.

“I was with the minors and the U-21s for the last few years, so, it’s a step up to the senior team now,” Gallagher said.

“I’m looking forward to it, it’s something I wanted to do, and I just felt the time was right.”
