An impression of what the new clubhouse at Towney will look like
Kilcar GAA club have been given permission for a new clubhouse and stand.
The south west Donegal club has been granted conditional planning permission for the works at Towney.
Kilcar will demolish the existing tea room building at the venue.
A new clubhouse will be constructed in its place and a spectator stand added to the site of the football pitch.
An additional dressing room building is also planned while the application provides for connections to existing services and all other site works.
The planning application was initially submitted to Donegal County Council in the name of club chairman Michael McShane last summer.
The local authority has given the go-ahead for the works, which include a revised layout of the spectator stand and clubhouse.
Among the 13 conditions set down are that all sound trees, shrubs and hedgerow shall be retained and any tree or shrub species subsequently dying shall be replaced.

The Council also says that site preparation and construction shall adhere to best practice and shall conform to the Inland Fisheries Ireland Requirements for the Protection of Fisheries Habitat during Construction and Development Works at River Sites.
