The throw-in
Only one player from each team will contest throw-ins at the start of each half. The other two midfielders must remain on their defensive side of the halfway line
Tyrone v Derry: From a first watch, the one-on-one seems to get things underway faster, as in previous years there were some choreographed blocks - even some wrestling - and the likes. That’s not to say there won’t be wrestling in the future and the ‘other’ midfielders do look a touch lonely on the sidelines, but all in all, it looks like a decent innovation.
Roscommon v Down and Galway v Armagh: There seems to be universal agreement that this rule change is welcome and does away with the usual pulling and dragging.
Dublin v Mayo: A rule that looks like it could be staying for the long haul, and there’s no reason why. Set a nice tone to the game without any ‘off the ball’ incidents that we have been so used to.
