In Pictures: Donegal and Dublin's connections through the years

Dublin manager Dessie Farrell is a first cousin of Ireland international Seamus Coleman and has often cited Donegal as his second home, but there are more individuals that tie Donegal to the capital

Brian and Nathan Mullins: One of Dublin’s greatest ever players, Big Brian was one of the key ingredients that tied Heffo’s Army together. But it wasn’t until the 1990s when Mullins took the job as a school principal in Carndonagh that he was connected to Donegal before returning to the capital to work in UCD.

His son Nathan has even a greater tie to both counties having represented them both at inter-county level. He was part of Jim Gavin’s U-21 Dublin panel that pipped Donegal to the All-Ireland title in 2010, but togged out for the Donegal U-21 team a year later under Maxi Curran.

Nathan was later drafted into the Donegal panel under Declan Bonner in 2018 but now resides in Dublin where he plays football with St Vincent’s.
