Donegal will begin their Ulster Senior Football Championship title defence with a crucial preliminary round clash against Derry at MacCumhaill Park, Ballybofey, on Sunday, April 6 it has been confirmed.
This is a repeat of last year’s opening round where Donegal overcame the then-league champions in their own backyard of Celtic Park.
The winners will advance to the quarter-finals, setting the stage for another intense championship campaign.

That quarter-final clash will see Monaghan take on the winners of either Donegal or Derry on Sunday, April 20. If Donegal progress, that game will be held in Clones; if Derry emerges victorious, they will have a home advantage at Celtic Park.
Armagh, meanwhile, will need to navigate two Saturday encounters if they are to reach this year’s Ulster final. Their quarter-final against Antrim is scheduled for Saturday, April 12, with the venue yet to be confirmed.
If victorious, they will meet either Tyrone or Cavan in the semi-finals on Saturday, April 26.
Elsewhere in the quarter-finals, Tyrone will host Cavan at Healy Park on Sunday, April 13, while Fermanagh welcomes Down to Brewster Park on Saturday, April 19.
The second semi-final, featuring the winners of Fermanagh vs. Down against the victors of Monaghan vs. Donegal/Derry, is scheduled for Sunday, April 27. The Ulster SFC final will take place on Sunday, May 11.
