Hugh Devenney a worthy recipient of LGFA Volunteer Hall of Fame award

The Laghey native and Four Masters clubman was at Croke Park on Friday evening and it was fitting that friend and LGFA president Micheál Naughton was there to make the presentation

Hugh Devenney was presented with the Volunteer Hall of Fame award by Ladies Gaelic Football Association President, Mícheál Naughton, at the 2024 LGFA National Volunteer of the Year awards ceremony at Croke Park on Friday night. 

Hugh is a stalwart of the Four Masters club and the Laghey native has been involved with Donegal LGFA since 1993, serving in various positions at county board level in that time.

At his home club, Hugh has also coached, refereed and mentored teams, and he was one of the first managers to mastermind back-to-back club titles at Senior Championship level in Donegal.

A former Ulster Council President and ex-Donegal county board chairperson, Hugh continues to serve the provincial body and is the national body’s Culture and Language Officer.
