Roisin Rodgers says Donegal made their own luck in their dramatic Lidl Ladies NFL Division 2 win over Monaghan on Sunday. 

Trailing by one in the dying seconds in Lifford, the captain bravely threw herself onto the braking ball of a dropped Susanne White free and somehow flicked to the back of the net. 

It meant Donegal jumped into a 1-7 to 0-8 lead and with the whistle signalling on the restart, James Daly’s side had picked up their first win of the season to go along with two opening draws. 

“It just broke in the middle of everyone and I just reacted,” said the Naomh Mhuire club woman after. “To be fair to the girls, it’s such a young side and we probably were due that little rub of the green"
