St Michael's were one of only two teams who won all four of their group stage outings in the Donegal SFC last year, along with Glenswilly, and went as far as the semi-finals of the competition before losing out to Dungloe 0-9 to 0-8. The club from the Bridge are also operating in Division 1 of the All-County Football League and both McElhinney and McLaughlin are vital players. McLaughlin stood in as manager in 2021 after Kevin 'Cookie' Gallagher left the club.
